Subiaco Library Event

Subiaco Library will host a special Poet’s Night on Friday 19 October commencing at 6pm, as a part of the 2007 WA Spring Poetry Festival.

Poets from Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne will showcase their work -

* Western Australian poet Deanne Leber’s first collection of poems, “Book of Days” was short listed for the 2006 WA Premier’s Book Awards (Poetry), it is an autobiographical journey into the ways we remember.

* Melbourne poet Ashley J. Higgs’ poems are sung, spoken, whispered, screamed; verses are twisted, changed, forgotten and transmogrified into sonic incantations.

* Samuel Wagan Watson is from Brisbane and was the winner of the 1999 David Unaipon award for emerging Indigenous writers for his first collection of poetry, Of Muse, Meandering and Midnight.

* Western Australian poet Lucy Dougan's first book Memory Shell (Five Islands Press, 1998) won the Dame Mary Gilmore Award in 2000. Since the early 1990s she has been published in a range of journals.
