Poetry Workshop

Performance Poetry - Open workshop with Allan Boyd

1pm - 5pm Saturday 13 March - Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre Foyer 2 Blair Street Bunbury

What is performance poetry? How does it work? How do you write it?

What else can you bring to your work when it is spoken or performed?

This workshop is for those who want to get their poems on to the stage or for those who simply
want to improve their reading techniques.

The workshop will cover exercises and ways to improve your ability to perform your poetry;
innovative approaches to creative writing and the importance of rehearsal and editing

Bring along some poetry or other works and we'll run through them as performance pieces - if time permits.

Workshop costs $10

FIND OUT MORE: http://www.bunbury.wa.gov.au/index.php?pageId=842

Shore Lines is both a competition and a festival in Bunbury, providing a unique opportunity for writers to present their work to a live audience.

There are two parts to this exciting event.

Part one is the highly important writing competition, entrants are encouraged to submit any style of writing but need to consider how their work will fit the performance day, where performers entertain audiences throughout non traditional venues in the CBD.

Don’t think your style of writing doesn’t suit a live audience, remember traditional stories and fairytales were told, and poetry is at it’s best when performed. Eligible pieces include Prose, monologues, stand up comedy, one act plays for a small cast, poetry, speeches, songs.

We are holding four summer writing workshops for all writers to get pointers from experiences writers and performers.
