
Bunbury Poetry Slam Rules
The rules below are standard international slam rules, and are based on the Australian Poetry Slam rules...
- Anyone can enter
- Limited to 20 contestants
- Please register to ensure a spot
- Arrive at the venue early to secure your spot
- Random draw for performance order
- ABSOLUTE two minute time limit - time starts at your first word (ie: no additional time for preamble)
- Points will be deducted from the final score for exceeding the time limit - Five judges chosen at random from the audience
- Judges hold up score cards using a 1.0 – 10.0 scale
- Only the middle three scores are counted
- Poem must be the original work of the performer - No musical accompaniment or backing tracks
- No Props - No costumes
- The performer with the highest score is the overall winner
- In the event of a draw for 1st place or Runner-up a Slam-Off will take place
- Organiser reserves the right to change the rules at any time
